Walwyn Name Study

This page has been accessed 144 times.

The goal of this project is to trace the Walwyn family back to the first Mister Walwyn, the son of the noted King Arthur's sister St. Gwyp.

Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Roderick O'Donnell.

My mother's surname was Walwyn-Shepheard thus making me a direct descendant of these noted figures.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • I have traced a paternal line back to David de Walwyn of Y Hay Y Gelli. Born circa 1080. I can not find anything earlier.
  • I would like to find information linking these people to Walwyns Castle near Haverfordwest in Wales.
  • I can not find any information on the web about these pre-medieval Walwyns.

Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!

Hi Roderick, I am interested in the Walwyns of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. I believe My 10 x great grandmother was Dorothy Walwyn who married Cornelius Gascoigne.

Hi Roderick,

I've added your project to a better category so people can find you. Sounds like it would fit well in our One Name Studies Project. Thanks for starting it!
